Exploratory Spanish

Return to Department Homepage

Teacher:  Sra. Brown

Course Description:
This course, for 8th graders, is based on a conversation. Throughout the year students will be learning specific parts to a very basic conversation. They will be learning some of the trickiest verbs to give them a head start in Spanish 1. We will be learning culture facts behind the grammar and language that we learn. They will also be learning about different countries and their histories. This is an introduction and exploratory class to excite and entice students into Spanish One. It will be challenging in the respect that it is a new language, but students should find it less challenging than some of their other academic classes.

Course Content:
This course, as stated, is based on a conversation. They will learn how to say things such as "hello", telling their name, how to read a Hispanic name, times of day, to say things that they like and or dislike, to describe themselves and the people around them and short histories of the countries that we study.

Homework:
Students should expect to have homework about one/two time(s) a week. This doesn't include studying for quizzes or tests. The homework should not take more than 20 minutes at the most and shouldn't be too overwhelming. Please see the Classroom Guidelines sheet for more information. Included in the assignment list document below are students' homework assignments, quiz schedules, tests, and projects.
