SCRIP Schedule ~ 2009-2010 School Year
Orders received by 8:30am each Monday will be available to pick up in the office by Friday. (They are usually available on Thursday afternoon.) (Remember, the office closes at 4:30pm.)
On weeks where FCS has a short week, or there is a holiday, please contact Chrissy Paige (765-474-3246) or Valerie Depue (765-447-9639) to find out whether or not SCRIP orders will be processed that week.
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a stewardship program. It allows you to get $$ directly off your tuition account, or donated to the school, by ordering gift cards/certificates for the restaurants and stores that you use regularly. These stores/restaurants allow the school to purchase their gift certificates at a discounted percentage rate and the school in turn credits that amount to your tuition account.
For example, if you are going to buy a refrigerator and are spending $800 at Lowe's (4%) and Grandma's prescriptions run $250 a month at Osco (4%), plus you need gas for both vehicles at Speedway ($100 at 4%), and you are going to spend $50 taking your wife (and four kids) to Olive Garden (9%) for her birthday, you would buy gift cards through SCRIP to pay for these and would receive $50.50 off your tuition account.
SCRIP can also be purchased by family and friends, and they can choose to give the credits to your account or to the school in general. It is good to note that some gift cards have expiration dates and most CANNOT be used to pay off store credit cards, but each store is different. Most CAN be used for on-line purchases. To get the details on each retailer, go to www.shopwithscrip.com, click on “Retailers” and then “Detailed Retailer List”. Also, retailers are constantly changing, so please be sure to use the most recently updated order form. (Each time you place an order, we will give you a new order form. Also, you can always find the most up-to-date form right here on our website.
How Do We Use This Program?
- Fill out an order form, including a check for the amount you purchase + $0.75 handling fee. You can find the form at the SCRIP box, which is just inside the entrance by the flagpole or download it here. (If you fail to include the $.75 handling fee, your order may not be processed.)
- Put the completed form and check in an envelope with your name on the front and drop it into the SCRIP box by 8:30 on Monday morning. (SCRIP is not processed during school holidays.)
- By Friday afternoon the SCRIP gift certificates should be available for pickup. There is a plastic box on the counter in the school office that is labeled “SCRIP”. Just check your order to make sure that it is correct, sign that you have picked it up, and you are done!! The next time you order, please put your order form and check in the small manila envelope provided and drop in the SCRIP box between the sets of doors at the flagpole entrance.
Do You Need Volunteers?
Absolutely! It takes just a willingness to use the computer and a few hours a week to be a SCRIP volunteer. Orders are usually processed on Monday and filled on Thursday mornings, but times can vary depending on the need. Volunteers generally work in teams of two, one month at a time. Right now some teams have to work two months of the year, but if we get enough volunteers that won’t be necessary. Also, if you are petrified of computers, you could volunteer to entertain a child or two at the school while others process orders.
What If I Have a Problem With My Order?
So far there have been very few problems with orders, and most have been taken care of to everyone's satisfaction. It is very important that you check your order before you leave the school office. This helps catch problems immediately and correct the issue quickly.
